10/1/2024 On This Day...

On this day via the Third Treaty of San Ildefonso, Spain cedes Louisiana to France, which then would sell the land to the United States thirty months later.

This sell of the land would be forever known as "The Louisiana Purchase (1803)" the land deal in which the U.S. acquired approximately 827,000 square miles of land west of the Mississippi River for $15 million.

To be exact... The purchased territory included the whole of today’s Arkansas, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska, parts of Minnesota and Louisiana west of Mississippi River, including New Orleans, big parts of North and northeastern New Mexico, South Dakota, northern Texas, some parts of Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado as well as portions of Canadian provinces Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Thank Goodness since Missouri and the rest of the USA would not be here or the same... So I guess it is sorta... Happy Birthday to Missouri and all the neighboring states... as well as territories in Canada!

Happy Birthday Day To Us!
