As I usually mosey along these beautiful fall day, I'm suddenly reminded just how close I am to multiple lakes and recreation areas.
I live in northern Polk County, Missouri and just down the road... a hop, skip and a jump from the Pomme De Terre River & Pomme De Terre Lake.
I also live within 15 - 25 miles to "many" Army Corp of Engineers Campgrounds.
Pomme de Terre Lake is located in southwest Missouri at the confluence of Lindley Creek and the Pomme de Terre River.
The lake is located in southern Hickory and northern Polk counties, from northern most tip it's about 50 miles north of Springfield.
Parks & Camping galore...(Lightfoot - Damsite - Wheatland - Pittsburg - Nemo) plus multiple State campground parks on Pomme De Terre Lake.
Then there are a slew of Private Campgrounds & Resorts within reach as well.
I can't forget that Truman Lake is a mere 28 miles through my short cut the county roads from my front door too.
The Harry S Truman Reservoir, also known as Truman Lake, is located between Clinton and Warsaw, on the Osage River and extends south to Osceola.
To the West - I am also within 20 miles of Stockton Lake... which includes Corp Of Engineers & State Campgrounds plus multiple private campgrounds & resorts.
Stockton Lake is a reservoir located in southeastern Cedar County, northeastern Dade County, and southwestern Polk County, Missouri.
The lake is 'V' shaped, and covers 39 square miles, with 298 miles of shoreline. It has three marinas, and 10 public-use areas.
Lastly but not least is my 50 mile proximity to the "huge" Lake of the Ozarks.
Lake of the Ozarks is a reservoir created by impounding the Osage River in the northern part of the Ozarks in central Missouri. Parts of three smaller tributaries to the Osage are included in the impoundment: the Niangua River, Grand Glaize Creek, and Gravois Creek.
It is the largest man-made, non-flood control lake in the United States.
With it's 1150 miles of shoreline & where my husband and I spent our early boating years as we resided in Cole County & worked in Missouri State Government within Jefferson City, MO.
Boating was huge part of our life and the road map to why we built our Paradise Cove Home & Oasis near these fabulous recreation areas.
To be honest... I have not had my third owned boat ( A Tri-Hull Runabout) in the water since my husband's passing. The poor thing has gather trailer rust & is need of renewal.
I have finally garaged it in hope of someday getting it back into water worthy shape and cruise these beautiful waters again.
But first I'll have to forego the motorcycling on those days. 😅
Hope y'all have a wonderful day!
Nana
