12/20/2024 It's All In The Name...

I've been informed that if you're looking for a regal name for your newborn, Diana is fit for a queen.

With Greek, Latin, and Indo-European origins, the name Diana means “divine.”

Diana was a Roman goddess of many arenas, including hunting, forests, the moon, and fertility.

Diana was the twin sister of Apollo and goddess of the moon. Her symbol, a crescent moon, sits behind her in the sky

The Greek name is Artemis.

An image of her was said to have fallen from heaven, or to have been formed of wood or ebony which fell from the clouds.

It was worshipped by all Asia.

Diana is without a doubt one of the strongest names a little girl can have.

It may seem delicate and sweet but it is powerful. The most notable bearer of the name is Princess Diana.

I often have people call me Diane after I introduce myself as Diana.

My mother from the time I could remember would always correct people immediately and be almost agitated if they called me Diane.

I would often try to smooth it over but she would never let it drop when we were out of ear range of the offender.

Every time now that I have that happen to me, I hear her voice in my head telling me: I named you Diana and if I wanted you to be called Diane I would have named you that.

She in fact was never a fan of nicknames for herself or anyone else.

I even had informed my husband quickly after we were married to not call my mother any nicknames common for Mildred.

My uncle (her little brother) refused to play nice and always enter with a loud "Hello Millie" which would always get him a scolding and a frown from Mom.

The funny thing when my younger brother was just a toddler he could not say Diana so my uncle (mother's oldest brother) got my little brother to say Anna instead.

Now Mom never once called me Anna but the rest of the family began to call me Anna from then on and even now my niece & nephews all know me as Aunt Anna.

When I hear a familiar voice speak Anna I would instinctively respond but in a crowd of strangers I would probably not respond to Anna.

My husband would always address his cards or love letters to me as His "Lady Di" 💋

It did make me feel regal! 😅

May your day ring regal for you... No matter your name!
