I get so bored of people saying riding a motorcycle is so dangerous.
I have been laid up since actually July of this and it has nothing to do with a motorcycle.
You think that everyone who's in a wheelchair did themselves in on a bike? Nope!
You think no-one ever died in a car accident?
A girl I know got a bad back troubles one day, six months later she was dead. No fault of her own, she was in her 20's and fit and well.
Another guy I know keeled over one day and died, leaving his family on their own.
Did they ride bikes? Nope.
Did they do anything wrong? Nope. Stuff happens. People die!
You think you're safe because you're in a car?
Well you're not.
I heard the other day "OMG a biker was on a country road and got hit by a car at 60mph, bikes are so dangerous".
Tell you what, you try getting two cars and smashing them into each other at 60mph, you see if you survive, because you're either instantly dead or you have no legs.
Yeah I'm more likely to die on a bike, but do I not care?
Nope, not in the slightest. Because tooling around on a bike makes me giggle like a little girl and stops me throwing myself off a cliff when the realisation that I've lived my life locked in a cupboard scared to death about it all sets in.
You can either reconcile it with yourself or you can't. But if you really think that you're immortal if you don't have a bike licence then best of luck surviving the week.
People die falling over in the shower, but most days I look death in the eye and say "NOT TODAY, DEATH" before scrubbing my butt and getting on with my day.
