4/17/2020 Riding Out Covid-19...

Updated: Apr 20, 2020

COVID-19 has changed the world as we know it. While some are panicking, hoarding toilet paper and groceries, others are trying to enjoy their normal lives as best they can while following procedures to keep themselves and those around them safe. It’s looking like this will be a long road back to the lives that we were used to, so like others I have tried to practice a routine that can help keep my body active and mind at ease—like riding a motorcycle!

Yesterday Jim & I rode 45 miles to just soak up some vitamin D. I was eager to test out the new battery in the Wing Trike (Gremlin are still in the bike but hey if I am going to need an engine replacement... might as well ride it)

We started out with gloves & helmet. This is a good rule for riding in general, but during this scary time, it’s a good idea to keep your helmet and gloves on a little more than you usually would.

It’s commonly known that motorcycling is a solitary endeavor, made more fun by the addition of others. I’ve generally agreed with this, but now… We have been drilled thay we need some space. Social distancing is one of the key components of slowing down COVID-19’s spread, so "yes" we avoided any sort of gathering.

In fact we did not need gas so no touching of pump, door or any sufaces.

We stopped at a small pull off near Pomme de Terre Lake. Both bikes 6 ft apart just for appearance sake. (Kinda silly since we reside in the same house) We did not eat or even touch anything excluding our own bikes & phone.

The only older persons we saw was ourselves. A few buttoned up cars passed with a wave.

The lake looked inviting and whispered it would wait for our eventual return without soap, water, sanitzers & masks. In a more somber realization; this may be the reality for several years to come.

As long as my mind can find peace on these solitary roads...

I can survive anything.

God Bless Us.

That’s one thing that I have been doing a lot of, local riding. Last time I ate at ANY TYPE of restaurant was when y’all came thru....I don’t even trust the drive thru’s.... Vickie has been filling up 5 gallon gas cans 2 at a time while she’s gassing up heading home from work... It’s tough pouring from gas jugs but it keeps me off of the gas pump handles and touch pads unless necessary... I doubt I would catch the covid but my biggest worry is if I did and passed it on.... And we have been limiting our trips to about 100 miles a day. Most of the trips have been solo but now Vickie has begin to ride the…
