4/18/2020 Breakfast & A Smile....

The morning began as usual these last four weeks, pot of coffee started, then frying pan with eggs, some assortment breakfast meat, hash browns, toast or some other hot breakfast items. Looking over my supplies I realized I've gone through a ton of coffee, eggs, snack items and carbonated flavor waters. Not to mention dishes, dish soaps and laundry full of lounge clothing over the last month. I definitely found myself cooking more than I have in the last five year. Grocery runs are now even more important today than before.

The cabin fever is getting to everyone. It was evident as we shopped at our local Aldi's. We were greeted by an elderly man who kept his distance but was hungry for conversation. We engaged in his initiated conversation and spoke pleasantries before wishing him well with the rest of his day. Realizations is many people are living alone with their routine drastically changed. I was glad we could offer some relieve and pleasant interaction. If anything this pandemic has taught is we need to remember to be kind and empathetic to our fellow citizens. It is hard for most people in these days. Human interaction is as much needed as any medication for a healthy mind and body. Remember: A smile and a few kind words are priceless!
