Yesterday's adventure began with a Florida man that had built a home you probably shouldn’t throw rocks at... The Carrabella Bottle House. Leon Wiesener, a retired art professor from University of Tennessee, said it took him one year, $3,000, and 6,000 bottles to build the mini-house in his backyard.
He said he put an ad in the paper, dumpster dove, and made a deal with a nearby recycling center to acquire materials. He also invited his friends who were heavy drinkers to contribute.
He said, “I had friends from Atlanta who were drunks and they would bring them down,” “I was into trying to save money and save the world some. This was just his little tiny contribution.”
Then it was on down the highway for us, on to another adventure, an easily-accessed, curving, white-sand beach located just west of the City of Carrabelle on Hwy 98. It certainly was a blessed beach with convenient parking, outdoor showers, bathroom facilities and covered picnic tables. A total enjoyment of the best of sun, sea and nature.
One fantastic day for the memory book.
