It’s was almost 70 degrees and there was a mild, balmy wind that kept the air alive.
It was a little overcast - enough to cut the glare and shadows, not enough to feel like outdoors is in a bad mood.
The light was important. It was almost a golden hour. The sun was overhead, but at that angle it felt friendly. It was almost pink - making the skin feel good.
I was wearing a jacket over a light, cotton shirt. I could have taken the jacket off…but why bother?
It was the beginning of those warm in the indirect sun, cooler in the shade kind of days.
It was one of those days you want to sit for a while and watch the world go by - maybe on the grass? You take off your boots and socks and pluck soft blades with your toes. Your feet look shriveled at first but it feels so good to let them be free and natural. You wiggle your toes - nudge them into the dirt. The grass makes your jeans damp. It would not be uncomfortable, a cool behind and a warm face would be just fine.
Yesterday was that kind of beautiful day that just screemed that we had to play hooky.
We’ve all done it before. Maybe it’s been a long time since you remembered faking sweaty palms and a fever past your mom, but playing hooky can feel just as good in adulthood. Actually, it feels a little better, because in our case we were not sick and we were our own bosses. We rode our iron horses away to the magical Warsaw, MO.
We sat along the lake bank, rejoicing in the gorgeous day. I reveled in the satisfaction of finding my prized purchase... A PT 22 Taurus handgun that I had been eyeing for some time now & As luck would have it, I found it at " The Sportsman's Outfitters" in Warsaw, MO.
The PT-22 is an extremely compact pocket pistol chambered in .22 long rifle. Featuring a black alloy frame, the gun sits at just over four inches tall with a 5.25-inch length. The 2.75-inch barrel works well if you intend to take the “pocket gun” label to heart.
But what led me to the Taurus PT-22 was its width & weight. At a mere 1.3 inches wide and 13oz, it is the perfect size for my petite hands and fits neatly into my smaller grip — a plus for when I want to work on one-handed shooting.
Then if the day could not have gotten better... we stumbled upon a Godfather's Express Pizza Joint just 19 miles from home near Nemo Landing, along Pomme de Terre Lake. Another rejoicing moment. It will be indeed a much closer drive than Springfield from my lake home.
We salivated over the Hawaiian Thin Sliced Masterpiece that Godfather's had perfected... A perfect mixture of ham, pineapple and cheese all the while enjoyed in a padded booth for tired & road weary bodies.
Certainly a day for the memory book.
