5/11/2024 Letter To My Daughters...

It may be a little early or late for a talk about Mother's but... Here goes anyway!

Let me start by stating the obvious. Being a mom is a hard job as you well know by now!

In a single day, the average mom performs roles from various professions, that under normal circumstances, she would get paid for.

She will do the job of a cook, kitchen hand, cleaner, driver, teacher, bookkeeper, laundrette manager, waitress, event’s organiser, counsellor, hairdresser, tutor, maybe dog walker & feeder… are you tired yet?

When you then consider, a high percentage of moms are also working part-time or full-time employment, in my case it was college and working then I'd go home to perform many of these duties. You might realize how phenomenal moms have to be!

Is it any wonder that some days we "moms" feel burnt out and struggle to be the mom that we want to be for our daughters?

Many of us feel guilty because we believe we should be doing a better job at motherhood.

Yes, I failed at times.

I know sometimes I did not live up to the best mom in the world”, I felt overwhelmed & uncomfortable because I felt like I would not deserve the title of best mom, that my standard were not high enough.

However, through the years I've realized having a bad day didn’t mean we’ve failed.

It just means we’re human, and we have had a bad day.

Bad days and struggles come and go, but they don’t define us.

Know that I loved you and although there was no way I was a perfect mom, there was a million ways I was a good mom.

My wisdom to you...

Love yourself and be proud of everything that you do, even your mistakes. Because mistakes mean you’re trying.

Behind you, all your memories. Before you, all your Dreams. Around you, all who love you. Within you, all you need.

Don’t chase people. Be yourself, do your own thing and work hard. The right people – the ones who really belong in your life – will come to you. And stay.

Always be honest and have faith in yourself. You "can" do anything you set your mind to do! I Love You!
