Then there was the morning we got up at the butt crack of dawn, did accountability, packed our stuff and went to wait for a person to pickup a vehicle.
We were to show up at 0800. The protocol was he might be there anywhere from 0800 to 1200. We left 0630 to catch a bite to eat at Burger King because the McDonald's by the pickup area might not have early inside dining.
Then it was on to the pickup site to wait. After 0900 we decided to check the McDonald's availability out. Our thoughts were we could see the site but this might give us a respite from the car and allow us to operate our computers. However, that idea was crushed when we realized McDonald's permanently covered all the electrical in plug due to the homeless population invasion.
Our instructions indicated that we would have a call within an hour of arrival. However, I had no faith that would probably be the case.
After 1100 hours my granddaughter had completed her homework. Since Walmart was nearby I drove her to wander the isles to rid the boredom. I still felt the need to stay outside to receive that elusive to phone call. At approximately 1200 hours I did actually received a call telling me that the personal was running late and it would be more like 1300 hours.
With this new intell I would pickup my granddaughter with her newly purchased shirt and head over to the hospital clinic to have my blood work completed and then back to ground zero. As it turned out the person didn't show up until 1345 hours. It took all of 5 seconds to complete the transaction of paperwork and all was done.
Then it was onward to the bank to complete a transaction.
Our stomachs were screaming from anxiety and hunger. My granddaughter made the restaurant choice. We promptly drove to Golden Corral where we decompressed and gobbled up an enormous late lunch. This was not the in brightest idea because with the newly developed thunder storm and our sluggish bodies we got rained on, had no rain coats or umbrellas and had to try to not die of hypothermia the rest of the night.
With the idea for a stop at "Target" to dry out, turned to a even sicker feeling because of the gluttonous eating before. Of course the riding carts through the store idea turn sour with no charged units. We determined the plan for our day really sucked.
Now keep in mind when we were told we had to be there at 0800, you had better believe that our asses were there at 0800. We “hurried up” to get there, make sure we were there, and did not leave until we heard something. Hurry Up and Wait is the most soul crushing experience because boredom is bad but enforced, needless and irrational boredom is God, or somebody telling you that you suck to believe you needed to do this.
Oh well hopefully there will not be too many days like this day.
All I can say... "Rain go away because Motorcycle Fever is getting stronger!"
