6/2/2020 My Dad Gave Me His Love and Joy...

To continue from my post from the last week. My dad was my inspiration for my life.

He had a love of all things with engines... cars, motorcycles, planes, & machines of all kinds.

He also had a thirst for adventures and love of travel. I inherited those traits as well.

When I was a wee tot he bought me a little peddle car which I promptly informed him it had to be painted just like his car; to which he did.

I would go outside as a preteen and shine on my bike imitating him in his love for his things. His cars could look like he just drove them off the showroom floor on most days.

As I grew he introduced me the creature... Mini-bike. I had caught a life long bug and fever from that day. Days were spend riding that thing. I had gotten permission to ride the farm pastures from a local farmer and later other landowner volunteer their acres to run wild through their hills and fields.

Later dad would find the prized Honda 100 that would be my first street bike. I would spend hours a week in heaven astraddle that bike.

Years would pass before I was able to buy my own bike but I had not forgotten the fever that I had for motorcycles. My husband would join in this passion over the years.

In 2012 I would ride my husband's bike on a solo trip to California and back. Along the way I had the opportunity to stop at the Bonneville Salt Flatts Speedway in Utah.

I felt so close to my dad at that moment as I sat there and looked upon the vastness. I would have loved to been able to call and talked to him at that moment but we had lost him in 1997.

He was my first and most loudest cheerleader. He was proud that I had taken up the love of automotive and motorcycles. He bragged every chance he got; about his daughter that rode her own motorcycle.

From that first Honda 100 to still riding a Honda...

Still loving the Adventures... Thanks Dad!
