Riding home from Springfield yesterday reminded me of one of my favorite movies when my girls were growing up – The Breakfast Club. Why? My motorcycle was screaming the refrain from the theme song: “Don’t You Forget About Me.”
I know gasoline and the battery are the two ingredients that give the motorcycle life. Batteries are often overlooked as the motorcycle usually “just works” over a long period of time. Most of the time when they fail though, they fail hard.
Yesterday afternoon after a quick stop in Bolivar to eat and get supplies, when I pressed the starter button all I got was wah, wah, wah.
It looked like my battery was clearly dead.
I took off the seat and looked at the battery. Everything looked connected & not a fuse was burned. However not much of a reading on Voltage meter.
Next step was to send Jim to AutoZone for a battery.
He left and a few minutes later a good Samaritan stopped to help me.
He took hold of the negative wire and wiggled it some. Everything came to life.
I quickly called Jim to tell him to hold off on battery until we can investigate what needs to be done. The darn bike started the rest of the afternoon.
I might get me some star washers and see if they keep connection made before I invest in a battery.
Always interesting in Paradise!
