Looking out at my several acres of green lawn is one of life's simple pleasures. But cutting all that grass is not. A lawn tractor that I can depend on to get the job done right is key. I had bought a small John Deere L100 in 2001. Loved mowing with it for twenty years. Ran great until last year. The thing did not start. Bought a new starter, solenoid and key starter switch but nothing still worked. I could cross start it with a screwdriver but it would run rough for approximately 1/2 hour then began to run fine. Air cleaner and engine cleaner no difference. So this season just ran it and tried to get the most out of it.
Yesterday I went out to mow and it started with jump from solenoid as usual. Started rough running, speed up & slow down, then died and would not start another lick.
A trip around town looking at all mowers still in stock at this last date was nerve wracking. Finally decided to buy the John Deere S120 42 in. 22 HP V-Twin Gas Hydrostatic Lawn Tractor at my local orange big box store.
It included features like:
John Deere's easy change 30-second oil change system under the hood, an all-in-1 oil and oil filter canister, allowing anyone to easily change the oil with no tools required. A 15 in. high-back seat that easily adjustable, with 10 possible positions, adjustments can even be made while seated for the perfect fit. A powerful (300 cca) battery that is supposed to starts even after lengthy storage. A cruise control that maintains tractor speed for mowing my large lawn area.
Also they offered $100. Off and 0% financing for 18 months for a brand new still crated boxed unit. Can't beat using their money for this duration while I draw interest on mine. The JD rep will inspect and prep it for pickup this coming week. That was as good of a deal for me with a yard yet to finish.
Crossing my fingers I get as many years with it now. 🙄
Mowing I Will Go... Wish me luck!
