Flying may be a convenient way to travel, but we miss so much between takeoff and landing. That's why for me road trips make for such memorable vacations: even if car or motorcycle travel slows folks down, they're bound to drive by wonders they didn't suspect were there. From Route 66 to the Pacific Coast Highway, these road trip routes are among the country's most beautiful.
One of my favorite was the Pacific Coast Highway 1.
I have drove and ridden Pacific Coast Highway several times over the years.
The 659 miles might just make up the most famous road in the United States. With sights including redwood trees, Monterey Bay, and the Golden Gate Bridge, this road trip is hard to beat!
Although most of the route traverses California, most road-trippers embarking on this iconic trip can make it all the way up to Washington state.
(I have not made it quite that far myself... time constraints always interfered.)
Now I would love to travel to Washington and other places I've missed over the years since I do now have the time. However, with these fuel prices, it's debatable if now is affordable. 🫤
The road is a wonderful education of this magnificent country.
Hopefully I'll See You Along The Road!
