10/29/2023 Cold In The Neighborhood...

Summer often seems to last deep into September these days. However, the autumnal equinox — which arrived Saturday, September 23rd at 1:50 am. Central Time — was a reminder from Mother Nature that fall was finally on our doorstep.

The fall equinox is one of only two days each year when most of the Earth experiences about 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness. Day and night are nearly equal because we are at a point in our orbit when neither hemisphere is tilted away from or toward the sun.

The fall equinox was a reminder that cooler days and longer nights are upon us. As temperatures tumble and the leaves begin to turn vibrant shades of red, orange and yellow, it only mean winter is not far behind.

Today's low will be 32°! 😲

So buckle up buttercups winter is near.

I'll be huddled near the warmth if ya need me.
