Everyone was caught in the slip n slide starting on a Friday mid-morning.
I had ventured out for a warm breakfast & found myself scurrying back home before the dangerous freeze set in for the day.
Many on the roads traveling later were not as lucky as me. Prayers for them.
The next morning started with me creeping out to the car to try to perform some deicing maneuvers.
I did accomplish some maneuvers alright.
I informed everyone later that they had missed my Pirouette on ice escapade as I exited the house.😄
The attentive audience almost dropped from laughing.
Then that brought back memories from my youth.
Mom & Dad had taken the family down to the local Firestone Store. Back in the day they were quite the store for a multitude of items. As we exited the store with our newly purchased snow boots that we all slid in great form to the car. Dad was grabbing each one of us kids as we swirled past him. He pushed us toward the car door and we dove inside. As Dad entered and prepared to start the car, he looked over towards the passenger's side with expectation of Mother being there. He wailed back to the kid section, Where is your Mother? All of the kids replied in unison, "She is not here Dad!" He gets out of the car mumbling "Well she was here when we started out of the store." As he rounded the corner of the passenger's side of the car he see Mother stuck halfway under the car. Not saying a word and shocked from the slide maneuver. He helped her inside the car as we all laughed.
Her description of her Pirouette moment was a favorite story at many family dinners.
Stay warm & safe!
