Looking back on my childhood I find that my memories are joyful growing up in St. Joseph, MO from the age of 2 - 11 years old and then the summers with my sister from 14 -16 yrs old.
I was able to ride bikes in the neighborhood with my friends. We played outside until dark, ate watermelon and drank lemonade in the streets with our neighborhood. Dads played street baseball with the kids and we were all little rascals. Everyone waved, everyone said "hello" with a smile.
No worries of school shootings, drugs or confusion of today's world. We were allowed to be kids oblivious of the worries of adult life. My parents were of opinion that family was the important glue that bound us together. I was never expected to perform in sports or busy activities. I was just allowed to be a kid.
It was truly a wonderful childhood and a wonderful life!
A happy childhood began with the parents that were always united, there for their children but yet not afraid to be parents. Honesty & Respect for your elders & others around you was paramount.
We did not have to only go to church to learn the principals of the bible, we were taught & tried to live it within our home & community.
Yes, looking back it was a wonderful childhood indeed!
