4/18/2025 Good Friday...

"Good Friday has been, for centuries now, the heart of the Christian message because it is through the death of Jesus Christ that we Christians believe that we have been forgiven of our sins,"

Here's a more detailed look at what happened on Good Friday:

  • The Crucifixion:

Jesus, after being arrested and condemned by Jewish religious leaders, was sentenced to crucifixion by Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor.

  • Public Humiliation and Suffering:

Jesus was publicly beaten, mocked, and forced to carry a heavy cross through the streets of Jerusalem.

  • Nailed to the Cross:

At Golgotha (the place of the skull), Jesus was nailed to a cross, where he suffered and died.

  • Darkness and Earthquake:

According to the Gospels, darkness covered the land, and there was an earthquake when Jesus died.

  • Significance:

Us Christians believe that Jesus's death on the cross was a sacrifice for the sins of humanity, offering salvation and forgiveness.

  • The "Good" in Good Friday:

While the day commemorates a tragic event, the word "good" in "Good Friday" is believed to come from the old English meaning of "holy" or "pious," referring to the sacred nature of Jesus's sacrifice.

Good Friday To All That Believes In Jesus!
