4/19/2023 Our Celebration & The Spaghetti Story...

What is the most ordered food when people generally step-in to restaurants or stop by any eatery?

The answer in unison would undoubtedly be in... Noodles of some sort!

But, how many of us actually order spaghetti instead of noodles? And how many of us still think that the long, thin, solid, cylindrical noodle is actually not a noodle but a noodle pasta?

And that it is certainly not a Chinese cuisine but an Italian one!

Our family loves us some Spaghetti now.

In fact our brood finally got to celebrate this week. 🎉

It is my Daughter's, Son In-law's and Grandson's Birthdays this month so... we rolled into our favorite affordable spaghetti~pasta, sandwich & pizza place... Fazzio's and celebrated!

Of course on this day my grandson made sure we got plenty of pics to compare his height with each of us. 😂 Yes I'm the shortest now.

He's at 15 years old & has "almost" reached his Dad's height of 6'.

I believe he may very well exceed that height in a few years.

As any day... I love to learn something new so I went looking for The Story Of Spaghetti.

It is said that the history of pasta products like lasagna and spaghetti has deep roots in the Mediterranean countries like Greece and other Middle-east countries and the Arabian Peninsula.

It is believed that Marco Polo during the 13th century on his voyage to China had introduced the concept of spaghetti which originated in Italy.

Our world came to know about the pasta products between the early and mid-20th century when the immigrants of Italy had arrived at the shores of the United States. Having started promoting the popular recipes of the traditional, easy-to-make meals from their homeland until World War 2 when US soldiers returned home bearing with themselves the tales of interesting European cuisines.

In fact Hollywood importantly played a huge role in the promotion of the Italian heritage allowing industrial manufacturers to start selling pre-made pasta meals across the entire world.

Spaghetti Facts...

  1. Spaghetti, which comes from an Italian word, Spago, means ‘string’.

  2. The slightly chewy texture of spaghetti is made from semolina or flour.

  3.  Italians twirl a fork against the spaghetti to eat while a spoon accompanied with a fork is culture only in America.

  4.  On April Fools Day in 1957, the BBC made everyone believe that spaghetti grows on trees.

  5.  World Spaghetti Day is widely celebrated on the 4th of January.

  6.  Californian restaurant Buca di Beppo created the largest ever bowl of spaghetti in 2010 managing to fill one swimming pool with around 6.250 kg of pasta.

  7.  Eating spaghetti makes you happy because the carbohydrates in it increase the body’s production of serotonin, the neurotransmitter that scientists believe trigger feelings of happiness and well-being.

We're must be a happy clan here! 😋
