The weather cooled down so I enjoyed just sitting by the fire last evening. Residing in the South for the last four months had rewarded me with much warmer temperatures.
Just watch the flames flicker was so relaxing: I guess staring at flickering light awakens the inner caveman/woman - and it has been said that it causes a person's blood pressure to drop.
In fact research from anthropologist from the University of Alabama believes that modern day humans’ relaxing response to fire is indeed evolutionary. Their studies has proven our blood pressure decreases when we stare at flames. We also become calmer and more sociable. Effect of fire is thought to have had the same effect on ancient man
Prehistoric people would have gathered around campfires to keep warm and make friends, which would have given them a survival advantage
So it seems we have evolved to feel calmer sitting by a campfire or even an illusion of a fire. When it is cold and wet outside it makes for a perfect evening!
Anyway Back To Relaxing In Front Of The Boob Tube...
