5/28/2019 Push Mountain Day...

Updated: May 29, 2019

Engines roared early towards the final destination of Push Mountain on our first ride day.

Push Road Mountain Road, referred to as “The Snake” by local riders, is absolutely the best motorcycle road in the state. Some say without question this is a 5 star road equal to any in the country. With over 100 curves, switchbacks and elevation changes this 25 mile Arkansas motorcycle trip will challenge any rider and thrill the adrenaline junkies. This road sees very little traffic. Located in North Central Arkansas, Push Mountain Road is best accessed through the towns of Mountain Home in the north and Mountain View in the South.

We were starting out taking Hwy 7 south from Marble Falls Resort towards The Cliff House Inn where we stop for breakfast complete with a spectacular view of the Arkansas Grand Canyon.

The food was phenomenal and the staff was very friendly. With full tummies the some bikes moved out to hit routes 374, 74 & 123 thru Mt. Judea. From Mt. Judea, Highway 123 continues south and climbs Kent Mountain to a height of almost 2,200 feet by way of a winding route with five turn backs so sharp you almost meet yourself coming. Motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the United States know this stretch of road as the “Little Dragon’s Tail."

South of these switch backs, and four miles south of Mt. Judea, is a popular attraction known as “Sam’s Throne." The “Throne” has a bluff line reaching over seventy-five feet in height which joins the eastern side of Kent Mountain. Rock climbers come here to take the challenge offered by this beautiful yet rugged area.

The road leads back to Hwy 7 where Hwy 16 intersects onward toward the community of Snowball in is typical of the many Arkansas towns established in the Ozarks in the late nineteenth century.

Located about thirteen miles west of the county seat of Marshall on state Highway 377 & 74, this once thriving commercial community today consists of a Masonic Hall, a few residences, and no commercial businesses. The ride snaked around further to highway 14 and 341/ Push Mountain Road. And then the fun continued. I found it best to make it a leisurely ride around 45 MPH to get the feel of the road and enjoy some stunning scenery. Route 412 lead back completing the adventure of the first day of riding.

Everyone was ready for a refreshing shower, nice meal and good conversation at the home base of Marble Fall Resort.

We are wishing that the storms don't blow us away so we can have a day 2 as fabulous as today!
