Today was to be an errand day for us. Truck licensing, blood work and toilet valve repair supplies.
Surprise - Surprise! We realized that most state and county offices will be closed today to observe Truman Day (a Missouri native & our nation's 33rd president)
Former President Harry Truman was born in 1884 in southwest Missouri’s Lamar, and later moved to Independence.
President Truman issued the executive order that integrated the U.S. military, and started the Truman Doctrine. He also implemented the Marshall Plan to help rebuild western Europe’s economy after World War II.
He was inducted into the Hall of Famous Missourians at the Statehouse in Jefferson City in 1991: his bronze bust is still on display there.
However, most state and county offices will be closed today to observe his birthday. We've been advised that emergency services such as the Missouri State Highway Patrol and county sheriff’s offices will still be open. Also, the Missouri House and Senate will also be in session in Jefferson City.
So it's just us country bumpkins that will have to wait to get licensed.
No big deal to the rest of ya'll. Now back to your regular programming... Hope everyone has a great day!
