As I sat down to write my ramblings for the day I took note of the date and it brought back a flood of childhood memories with my sister during those summers that I spent with her...
Their was a 7-Eleven store that we used to walk or drive the two blocks from her house to reward ourselves after a day of chores.
7-Eleven is the world's largest franchise companies. It is a retail that operates more than 60,000 convenience stores mostly in North America and Asia. It has even surpassed McDonalds. 😲
The typical outlet is small in size and carries a limited stock of food, drinks and other high turnover products but stays open long hours. Hence the name.
Yes our reward and fond memories were of 7-Eleven company's signature products, the Slurpee, an ice drink introduced in 1966, and the Big Gulp, a 32 oz cup for fountain drinks. After the Big Gulp proved to be popular in 1976, the company added larger "Gulps"!
Those memories of riding in the car and stopping into the local McDonalds for a burger and fries with the change you found in the bottom of your purse.
Those were wonderful days of cruising in your car, candy snacks and singing with the car radio.
