The Interstate ride was not our cup of tea so the road continues but this time we zig-zaged the back roads of Nebraska enjoying the farms, endless miles of corn crops and unique small towns. One such place was The Homestead National Monument Of America.
The monument consists of more than 100 acres of tallgrass prairie, the Homestead Heritage Center, and an assortment of historic buildings, farm implements, and other items.
The parking lot at the Homestead Heritage Center measures exactly one acre, a aknoledgement to the agricultural history of the place.
The qauint town of Beatrice was nearby.
Beatrice is located 40 miles south of Lincoln and has many National Historical Buildings.
This day was much better than rushing down the Interstates.
We were in no hurry so another night in a motel & supper of pizza ended our vagabonding for the day.
Almost Home...
