8/24/2021 Peel's Ferry & Jasper

Updated: Aug 25, 2021

Brand new black top for about 30 miles of this trip. The rest of the roads are in still great shape. We had very little traffic that was wrecking it for us. That route is everything you want from a ride. Great scenery, nice snaky roads, hills, vistas. When you thought about buying a bike and just tooling through the country, this is exactly what you were imagining.

Our destination was to catch the Ferry in Arkansas and then lunch.

This last public ferryboat operating in the state of Arkansas, Peel Ferry transports vehicles and passengers across a section of Bull Shoals Lake. Running daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

As we stood aboard the Ferry we decided on Ozark Cafe.

The over 100-year-old cafe (est. 1909) nestled in Jasper Arkansas features burgers, steaks, and breakfast with wonderful omelets; specialties include a deep-fried hamburger (which I had) and the Excaliburger, a 1/2-lb. burger sandwiched between two grilled cheese sandwiches and an Ozark sauce; the building includes a meeting room, a soda fountain and theater, & fronts the town square.

It was selected by New York Magazine’s Grub Street blog as Arkansas’s entry in their list of the Top 50 foodie destinations.

Delish.com named the cafe’s chocolate gravy as Arkansas’s Must Try Foods from the 50 States.

The Ozark Cafe is one of Jasper Arkansas only Landmark, it is on the National Register of Historic Places and it is the second oldest restaurant in Arkansas. A must try for anyone in the the area.

The bikes performed flawlessly in all the twists and turns of Highway 7.

It Was Loving The Ride Day!
