My Saturday was really enjoyable.
As a member of Southwest Electric Cooperative which was founded in 1939 by local people who understood the needs of our rural communities.
Today, is work to distribute affordable, reliable, and safe energy to parts of eleven counties in southwest Missouri totaling about 43,000 services.
I had the opportunity to attend one of the most important meetings of the year - The Annual Meeting.
Annual Meetings are designed opportunities to become involved in the operation of the Cooperative by electing the directors that represent us.
The annual Meeting is also the opportunity to inform the members as to the changes and progress of the past, opportunities and obstacles of the present, and the direction of the future.
I am happy hear that our cooperative is in the top 10 cooperatives in the nation to keep excellence budget decisions and thereby keeping the increased cost from being billed to the members.
Capital Gains dividend are still coming again this year in a December Check. Yippee 🎉
The Annual Meeting was a fun-filled morning for the members and families.
I can enthusiastically say that I enjoyed meeting my neighbors and other new friends at the meeting.
In addition to the normal business meeting, there were lots of door prizes, including a $10 free electricity voucher for every member who attended as well as 15 prize winners for voucher from $50 -$250 off their utility bill.
There were farm and home booths; the kids were excited to see the drawing for the 4 kids' bicycle giveaways.
We were even served a breakfast meal with choices of huge homemade cinnamon rolls or berry muffins with coffee, orange, apple or grape juices refreshments drinks.
Also, I can't forget the Member's Goody Bag with a free calendar, an impressive kitchen filet knife, a Cooperative pen and note pad plus so much more fun!
I was even one of the lucky Cooperative Members that won a door prize.
Let me tell you they had some good gifts too!
Two 43" Smart TV, Various Electronics, Coolers, Vacuums in various forms from auto to floor rumbas, car detailing, gift food baskets, and other items too numerous to mention.
My win was a Mr. Coffee Expresso & Cappuccino Machine! 🥳
(Shown in my Betty Boop Basement Kitchen)
It was nice to receive praise with the acknowledgement that the strength of our Cooperative comes from the members. We as informed and concerned members staying involved by electing those people who value our way of life and work to improve the quality of life in rural Missouri.
This is definitely a happy moment in a chaotic time for our Country, State and Communities. I am so glad I attended the meeting.
Southwest Electric Cooperative Rocks!
