To begin my Wedding Anniversary Day I left out of Pratt, Kansas for La Junta, Colorado.
I was all set for a fabulous memorable day, full of reminiscing & making new experiences.
Starting as usual it was extremely windy in Kansas... Remembered That From Wizard Of Oz! 😅
My goal was making the trip interesting so... I stopped at a few intriguing towns along the way...
Like: Cooliage, KS, a cute little place.
Look what they've got in town! Cousin Eddie's Museum (National Lapoons)
Yes I had to take a photo of my trike "Phoenix" & the motorcycle pull camper "Country Girl" in front of the Colorado Sign!
(Oh No! I noticed that I lost a side reflector!
I think I know where... There was one doozy of a rough railroad track on the freeway back a few miles) 😲
Next my stomach became a nag, so that's my story anyway. It made me stop at "The Santa Fe Trail House" in Holly, CO which where lunch conveniently also served for supper too. It was yummy!😋
Further up the road I ran across the Petrified Wood Building in Lamar, Colorado. 🧐
The afternoon became "very hot" so I was beginning to boogie down through the wind to find a place to stop for the evening.
I came across a Travelers Inn in La Junta, Colorado. I had been tainted to believe in miracles from the prior night.
This day it was the worst choice I could have made!
I got there about 4:20pm Mountain Time...
The door had two numbers to dial.
(I should have walked away right then but I didn't!)
I called the number and a woman answered saying she would have her boyfriend come get me into a room.
He appeared a few minutes later.
It was extremely hot and I was anticipating a smooth checking... Because... by now I was about ready to drop.
The guy ask if I could come back in about 1/2 hr. His girlfriend would be able to get the room ready then.
Well I had reserved it 5 hours ago it looks like maybe they could have figured it out by now! I told the guy I was not safe to get back on the road the way I was feeling. I asked if he had somewhere in the shade I could wait.
He was gracious enough to open a room that was in need of repair but had chair & air conditioning. The woman could not keep on task to save her life. So I waited and waited. First room they tried to place me in had a pond in the bathroom floor... More waiting for another cleaning of the rooms.
I finally got into a room at 7:00pm.
I was too exhausted to go anywhere so I was determined to make it do.
After a some minutes of resting, I get up to take a much needed shower.
NO HOT WATER FOLKS!
Now it's almost 9:00pm so I just take a cold sponge bath and go to bed.
Well the girlfriend must have been enjoying a few cold ones by now or something else. 😵💫 She proceeded to butt dial me twice in the late night with a giggle apology.
The worst room - customer service I have ever experienced! 🙄
Also, did I mention... Earlier in the day I got a bee up my long sleeve in the the blowing wind (You see I always try to travel with a wicked cool shirt to keep from sunburning to a crisp) and... yes the bee stung me!
What a memorable day for what would have been my 45th wedding anniversary day! 😱
Well, tomorrow is a new day!
Nana
