Still Roaming Wichita, KS...

One of the most breathtaking and memorable tourist attractions in Wichita is the Keeper of the Plains, a 44-foot-tall steel sculpture that is most impressive at night.

The statue stands on sacred land, where the Big and Little Arkansas rivers converge.

The Allen House...

Elsie—the wife of governor, senator, and newspaper publisher Henry J. Allen—commissioned Wright to design the couple’s home in College Hill, a newly developed residential neighborhood of Wichita.

The Kansas Aviation Museum is a handsome Art Deco structure. Originally built as the terminal for Wichita’s municipal airport, it was named simply the Administration Building.

It has since taken on a variety of uses and has played a pivotal role in Wichita’s growing importance in the aviation industry. By 1929 Wichita had eleven firms engaged in the manufacture of airplanes as well as an array of firms in support industries, making Wichita the location of 25 percent of all aircraft production in the country.

Now the Kansas Aviation Museum, the building houses exhibits of the history of Wichita’s aviation industry. The tarmac on the north side of the building displays many kinds of aircraft manufactured in Wichita.

Ok Doo-Dah?

Doo-Dah as: “Another nickname for Wichita, KS. Origins unknown, but perhaps it references the laid-back, whimsical attitude felt by some visitors to the city.

I tried the Banana Bread French Toast. That was rich!

Doo-Dah Diner is a landmark destination for gourmet American comfort food. Founded by husband and wife duo, Patrick and Timirie Shibley, in their hometown Wichita, KS, the diner has won over not only the praise of their local community foodies, but those across the country.

The love that fills their diner is not only a key ingredient but also their in every delicious from-scratch dishes.

I was lucky enough to try their special take on vittles and loved it on my quest for experiencing Diners of America!

Roaming for Fun...
