I've been zipping Route 66 flowing East. A little Zigging & Zagging for a bit to make my final hotel stop in Tulsa... I'm always ready to cool down and get off the road by noon or there after with the warmer temperatures.
Historical Guthrie, OK
Guthrie, Oklahoma's original territorial capital town, is often-touted as “Oklahoma's Christmas Capital.”
From the historic Blue Belle Saloon to the majestic Oklahoma Territorial Museum and Carnegie Library, Guthrie's downtown, with its brick streets and Victorian architecture, does look like a movie set straight out of Hollywood.
Sapulpa, Oklahoma
Not my pic but did ride by it...
The town is named for "Chief" James Sapulpa, a full-blood Lower Creek from Alabama, who came to Indian Territory and around 1850 established a trading post about one mile southeast of the present community. In 1886 the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad (later the St. Louis and San Francisco Railway) extended its line from Red Fork to this area. This place became known as Sapulpa Station in honor of Sapulpa.
The oil boom, the Frisco railroad, and the addition of 2 brick and 4 glass plants all combined to transform Sapulpa from a sleepy little village in Indian Territory to a bustling community of 20,000 by the mid-1920s. Most of the buildings in downtown Sapulpa were erected during this boom period.
Hope Ya'll Are Having A Great Day...
