11/17/2020 Second Round...

Yesterday was moving on down the road for a second day. First attraction was the Cadillac Ranch.

"The Cadillac Ranch is just west of Amarillo & is a famous Route 66 landmark. Built up in 1974 by said to be eccentric but brilliant millionaire Stanley Marsh 3 and The Ant Farm, this line of old Cadillacs are buried nose first into the ground. The angle of the cars are also reputed to be the same as the ancient pyramids at Cheops. The Cadillacs were moved further west in 1997 from its original location due to growth from nearby Amarillo. The Cadillac Ranch is definitely a must see sights off the Mother Road."

Then the road lead to Russell's Travel Center at Glenrio, NM.

A complete stop with a convenience store, an authentic Route 66 Diner, a classic car and memorabilia museum, and a chapel.

After we tore ourselves away from Russell's Travel Center we buzzed on to Tucumcari, NM. The whole town of Tucumcari is pure retro bliss.

Then a taste of Hollywood along I-40 was the El Rancho Hotel. It was a home away from home for movie stars throughout the 1930s to 1940s who filmed Westerns in the area.

A Grand day but Darkness came all too soon & our weary bones needed a night's stop at Winslow, AZ.

More updates tomorrow...
