The road sometimes over the years had led my family & I to Phoenix and surrounding area.

We even lived in Scottsdale, AZ for eight months in 1998.

The desert holds a special place for my husband and I.

It was our get away dream to live in Phoenix or surrounding area. However, until we actually lived through the summer months there did we realize how hot it can be. We found out 116° days and even 105° at 1:00am was not our cup of tea.

We would have to leave our home at 6am for a motorcycle ride and definitely needed to be back in the air conditioning by 10:30am or heat stroke was possible!

I was ecstatic that my favorite restaurant was in the area... The Old Spaghetti Factory!!!

For decades they have invested meticulous attention to their unique décor and classical designs. Every location is adorned with antique lighting, intricate stained glass displays, large colorful booths, and an old-fashioned trolley car for guests to dine in. It’s has made the perfect atmosphere for a family celebration, a group event, or a special dinner date.

The Old Spaghetti Factory located in downtown Phoenix resides in an old historical building that was once two houses.

The two properties, the Baker House and the Cole Mansion, were constructed in 1921. A renovation was done to the houses in 1940 and joined them as one building.

They serve a unique cheese with many devoted followers like me.

Mizithra has been a part of their family recipes from the very beginning.

But the most famous dish almost never made it on the menu.

Their Spaghetti with Mizithra Cheese and Browned Butter was an old Dussin family recipe.

When Guss Dussin applied for the first Old Spaghetti Factory’s business and liquor license, he was told he needed one more item on the menu.

So, Guss suggested to his family the beloved Mizithra cheese recipe. And to this day, it’s the most popular dish on their menu.

Once you try it, you know why it is our family's favorite dish. And then who could forget the grand finale Spumoni Ice Cream.

It is always a day in Heaven for me to eat there!
