I chose Indianapolis. I wasn't born here. It wasn't a job, male love interest or serendipitous accident that brought me to this place.
My brother years ago fell in love with the city while he explored it on a college field trip to Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical Company in the early 1970's. He did later completed his pharmacy degree and serendipitously ended up in Indianapolis.
For the next several days I will be visiting my my sister in-law (his widow) to enjoy the city that he so loved and as well as enjoying giving Thanks with his large extended family.
Indiana is known for:
Vast farmlands, Agricultural production, especially corns and soybeans, Steel mills, Limestone industry, University of Notre Dame, and of course their football!
Can't forget... their high school basketball.
The city is perhaps best known for annually hosting the world's largest single-day sporting event, the Indianapolis 500.
Among the city's historic sites and districts, Indianapolis is home to the largest collection of monuments dedicated to veterans and war casualties in the U.S. outside of Washington, D.C.
Yep Indianapolis is friendly, funky and hospitable. We are starting our day off with breakfast at a farm-to-table restaurant, where our meal is sourced just steps away in Indiana’s rich farmland.
We'll shop at their trendy, local boutiques. Might even find time to explore over sixty pieces of public art, and other places where Indy pride is prominent.
Of course photo opportunities will be a must here.
Indianapolis here we go!
