Road Trip:
The the two wild sister In-laws are on the road to Mackinaw City which is the gateway to the Upper Peninsula. We hear it is a fantastic vacation destination.
It's right where the Great Lakes Huron and Michigan meet, it’s got tons of sandy beaches, unique shopping opportunities, and some excellent restaurants.
Also there is Old Mackinac Point Historic Lighthouse and Colonial Michilimackinac to explore.
The Mackinac Bridge is something impressive to see with it's feat of engineering. It clocks in at 26,372 feet long and 54 feet wide— five miles!
Locally known as the “Big Mac” or the “Mighty Mac,” it’s the 4th longest suspension bridge in the world.
They say that one of the best free activities in Mackinaw City is taking advantage of the gorgeous blue water that surrounds it.
We might take a dip at Mackinaw City Beach.
Beach # 1 and # 2 might be able to swim in the waters of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron simultaneously.
It seems that the waters off of Mackinaw city can be pretty cold– even in the peak of summertime.
The beaches are also pretty rocky, but that’s not a problem as long as we bring some water shoes.
We might even go Waterfall hunting at Tahquamenon Falls State Park which is a drive out of Mackinaw City which makes for a fantastic (and free!) day trip.
It’s 1 hour and 33 minutes away from the city.
We might just hop in the car with a couple of snacks and head to the woodlands of the second-largest state park in Michigan.
There will be so much to do with parks, tours, shopping & water fun!
Stay tuned for further write ups...
