I went to the Bank of Goodwill today and made a deposit -
I thanked my friends for being there for me
I wished my kids a great day
I recognized a human for his great performance
I opened the door for a stranger
I made a child's dreams come true
I went to the Bank of Goodwill today and made a withdrawal -
I forgot about my friend's dinner date
I cursed when a person who cut me off in traffic
I looked the other way when a homeless person stood on the street
I ignored someone who asked me for a moment of my time
I didn’t return a friend's call… I was too busy
Then, I got a call from the bank, who said I was overdrawn. What was I to do?
We reviewed my account, transaction by transaction, and then it was all too clear.
In the account instructions (the ones I knew I threw away already), there it was. I had been charged, many times, for violating several of the bank’s founding member’s guidelines -
